Historical fiction is common in war books. More books than any other American war have been written about the Vietnam War. Early on, the “official” account of the conflict lost credibility, and people were forced to interpret it for themselves. Books about war are known as war novels or military fiction. It is a book where the main action occurs either on a battlefield or in a civilian environment (or on the home front), and the characters are consumed with getting ready for, dealing with, or recuperating from war.
