An observatory tower was built and an 8km walk to the wildlife paradise awaits the arrival of the new beaver family.The Derbyshire Wildlife Trust is preparing to release two beaver families to the enclosed areas of the Willington Wetlands as early as September.

The former sand and gravel mine has become a haven for birds, dragonflies and otters.It is now set to be the county’s first beaver home in 800 years after the trust was licensed by Natural England.
A £67,868 grant from the Veolia Environmental Trust will help improve accessibility for visitors.The money will be used to improve existing routes and create new ones.It will also fund the construction of a bridge over the stream and a new observatory.
